Team Canada Drops Extra-Innings to Chinese Taipei at the U-15 Women’s Softball World Cup

Milan Italy – The Quick Story:

In a dramatic back-and-forth battle, Team Canada fell short in a 10-inning 4-3 loss to Chinese Taipei. With Canada scoring twice in the ninth to extend the game before falling in the tenth. It was a tightly contested defensive duel early on, with both teams held scoreless through the first seven innings.

Key Moment:

After McKenzie Howard and Jenna Hunter delivered back-to-back RBI singles to give Canada a 3-2 lead in the top of the ninth, Chinese Taipei answered with two runs of their own, including a game-tying RBI single and a dramatic play at the plate to extend the game. In the tenth, a walk-off single sealed the deal.

Notes:

  • Sara MacDonald continued her strong tournament, going 2-for-4 with a double, a single, and an RBI.
  • Robyn McIsaac went 2-for-5 and scored once, adding a stolen base.
  • Jenna Hunter delivered a clutch RBI single in the ninth.
  • McKenzie Howard added a run-scoring single and scored one of Canada’s three runs.
  • Jayden Girling chipped in with a sacrifice fly and two RBIs.
  • Rachel Clegg got the start and pitched into the 10th, striking out five and allowing only one earned run.

Box Score: Chinese Taipei 4 vs. Canada 3
