Team Canada Claims Four Silver Medals at the 2025 ICF Canoe Sprint & Paracanoe World Championships

Milan, Italy – August 24, 2025 — Canoe Kayak Canada is proud to celebrate a strong performance from Team Canada at the 2025 ICF Canoe Sprint & Paracanoe World Championships, where Team Canada brought home four silver medals and represented their clubs and country with excellence on the world stage.

 

Katie Vincent (Mississauga Canoe Club), Olympic Champion, delivered another exceptional performance, earning three silver medals in :

 

Zoe Wojtyk won silver with Katie Vincent at the recent World Cup in Poland. “It is super cool to train beside her and be in a boat with her,” said Wojtyk. “I always had the confidence with her back there, knowing that she’s giving us lots of power in the boat. It’s just a good feeling going into a race having someone I can trust in the back.”

Brianna Hennessy (Ottawa River Canoe Club), Paralympic medalist,  added to Canada’s success with a silver in the:

Despite Hennessy having an unfortunate equipment issue in her final, she expressed her pride in bringing home a medal for her country.

“I spent my race trying to stay in the lane rather than sprinting. So, very bad luck today. I’m still very happy to medal for Canada, but you know, I guess today is not my day. The stars did not align. But there’s always a next year, and I’ll be coming.”

Following racing, the International Canoe Federation held elections for the ICF Athletes’ Committee. Katie Vincent was elected as one of the four new members of the ICF Athletes’ Committee for the 2025 – 2029 term.  “It’s really exciting and I am grateful to the community. I care a lot about the sport, not just at home but around the world.”
