Taekwondo Canada Records Best Results at 2025 Cadet and Junior Pan American Championships and Poomsae Open

Ottawa, ON – Taekwondo Canada is pleased to announce that it has returned from the 2025 Cadet and Junior Pan American Championships and Poomsae Open in Queretaro, Mexico with their best medal haul in recent years. The team, made up of 57 Cadet , Junior and Poomsae athletes representing six provinces, collected a total of 37 medals including 8 gold medals during the event. The medal total included the following:

Cadets – 2 gold, 5 silver, 7 bronze
Junior – 4 gold, 4 silver, 7 bronze
Poomsae – 2 gold, 4 silver, 2 bronze

This team which featured Canada’s National champions in their respective weight classes, many competing on the world stage for the first time, was also named the number two team in the event with only the United States finishing higher in the final rankings than Team Canada amongst Pan American teams competing in the event.

Team Canada Head Coach Carla Bacco was also named the tournament’s Top Female Coach, marking the first time that the country has received this prestigious honour at this event.

Executive Director Dave Harris said of the team’s results in Querétaro, “We are extremely pleased with the results accomplished during the recently completed Pan American Championships. The results are a testament to the commitment of our athletes, coaches and staff in ensuring that they were prepared to not only compete but to excel at the highest level of competition they have faced to date.
