Taekwondo Canada names new Chief Medical Officer

Taekwondo Canada is pleased to announce the hiring of Dr. Marie-Josee Klett as the organization’s new Chief Medical Officer effective immediately.

Dr. Klett, who was born and raised in Ottawa and currently resided in the nation’s capital, is also the team physician for the Ottawa Black Bears NLL Lacrosse team, the University of Ottawa Gee Gees Women’s Hockey and Women’s Rugby teams as well as one of the team physicians for Canada’s Men’s Volleyball team.

Dr. Klett has been involved in event coverage for many years including the recent 2023 Pan Am Games in Santiago, Chile, 2016 Winter FISU Games, 2012 Paralympic Games, 2011 Pan Am Games and 2010 Olympic Games.

Klett practices a mix of Family Medicine and Sport Medicine in Ottawa. She is actively involved in teaching medical students, residents and fellows and is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Family Medicine at the University of Ottawa.

Taekwondo Canada’s Executive Director Dave Harris said of the hiring, “Dr. Klett brings a significant amount of experience to Taekwondo Canada. Her substantial body of work with a great deal of sports teams and organizations makes her the perfect addition to an already strong team.”

Dr. Klett begins work with Taekwondo Canada immediately as the organization plans for upcoming national team events moving forward.
