Swimming Canada, Vichy launch sunscreen partnership with VIP event

Swimming Canada – TORONTO – Swimming Canada welcomed its newest partner to the fold Tuesday with a “Play Safe in the Sun” VIP launch party in Toronto.

Chez Lavelle rooftop in downtown Toronto was the setting as quadruple Olympic medallist Penny Oleksiak and fellow Olympian Markus Thormeyer joined fans, media, influencers and “skinfluencers” to celebrate the partnership announcing Vichy Idéal Soleil Sport SPF 60 as the Official Sunscreen of Swimming Canada.

“We are thrilled to partner with Vichy as the official sunscreen of Swimming Canada,” said Swimming Canada CEO Ahmed El-Awadi. “Swimming and exposure to sun go hand in hand, which makes this partnership a natural fit. The Vichy product line is the best on the market and we are our proud to have them protect Canada’s swimmers.”

Oleksiak and Thormeyer signed autographs and posed for photos as attendees enjoyed food and drinks, and received a Vichy gift bag. In addition to the Swimming Canada partnership, Vichy announced it’s extending its relationship with Oleksiak as Ideal Soleil Ambassador for two more years, through the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games. The role includes educating Canadians on the importance of sun protection by participating in brand activations, and creating exclusive behind-the-scenes content.

“Vichy Idéal Soleil is my go-to sunscreen when I train and enjoy my time out in the sun. I love that it is water and sweat resistant – it’s so important for me to know that my skin is constantly protected,” Oleksiak said.

Oleksiak, El-Awadi and Vichy Canada Group Manager Maude Cayouette spoke about the new partnership and the importance of sun protection.

“We are super excited to continue our collaboration with Penny Oleksiak and officially announce our partnership with Swimming Canada that Vichy has been named the official sunscreen of Swimming Canada,” Cayouette said. “Idéal Soleil offers high UVA and UVB protection, is suitable for sensitive skin and most importantly is recognized by the Canadian Dermatology Association. With its wet or dry skin application, 80-minute water and sweat resistance, and broad-spectrum SPF 60 protection for the face and body, Idéal Soleil Sport is the ideal sunscreen for all active Canadians who like to play safe in the sun.’’
