Sun Peaks to Host 2025 Canadian Downhill MTB Championships as part of Dunbar Summer Series

OTTAWA, ON (July 23, 2025) — Sun Peaks, BC, will once again welcome Canada’s elite downhill mountain bikers from July 25–27, 2025, as the Canadian Downhill MTB Championships return to this iconic venue for another marquee event in the national cycling calendar. 

Returning as part of the Dunbar Summer Series, the championships will showcase Elite, Junior, U17, and Masters athletes racing for the coveted maple leaf jersey on the legendary terrain of Sun Peaks Bike Park. Known for its technical features and breathtaking alpine backdrop, the venue promises a thrilling weekend of racing and celebration. 

The Canadian Downhill MTB Championships are shaping up to be one of the most exciting editions yet, with Canada’s top male and female athletes set to descend on the legendary trails of Sun Peaks Bike Park.  

“Riders will be pushing their limits, racing between the tape and against the clock in a true test of speed, skill, and nerve,” says Stephen Exley, event organizer. “With a stacked field, world-class terrain, and the electric atmosphere that only Sun Peaks can deliver, the stage is set for an unforgettable Canadian championship weekend.” 

Canadian downhill standout Jackson Goldstone is set to take on Sun Peaks at the 2025 Canadian Downhill MTB Championships, riding a wave of momentum after claiming four World Cup victories and topping the podium at Hardline Tasmania. With his sights set on the national title, Goldstone returns to home soil ready to charge alongside Canada’s best. Emmy Lan will return to Sun Peaks, where she claimed her first elite national downhill title in 2024.  

The event will feature a full schedule of practice runs, seeding heats, and championship races, with volunteer opportunities, spectator access, and community festivities rounding out the weekend. Riders and fans alike can expect high-octane action, community festivities, and a vibrant atmosphere that captures the spirit of Canadian mountain biking.
