VARESE, ITALY (Sept. 6, 2025) – Canada’s momentum continued this weekend at the ISU Junior Grand Prix in Varese, Italy, where Summer Homick (Tillsonburg, Ontario) and Nicholas Buelow (Barrie, Ontario) won the bronze medal in ice dance with a score of 143.56.
Fourth after the rhythm dance with 56.90 points, Homick and Buelow stepped up their game in the free dance, earning a score of 86.66 which allowed them to climb on the third step of the podium with a new personal best.
This marks the first Junior Grand Prix medal of their career.
“It was really surreal to skate here, I’m so proud of us,” said Summer Homick. “Obviously, there are still some aspects we’ll have to work on, but overall, I think we’re very happy.”
“Even though we broke our personal best, I think we could have scored even more points,” added Nicholas Buelow. “One of our goals was to reach the podium, and we accomplished that. Our free dance was really special, our connection is superb.”
Americans Jasmine Robertson and Chase Rohner won gold with 156.52 points, ahead of France’s Ambre Perrier-Gianesini and Samuel Blanc-Kaperman, who finished second with 147.18 points.
On the men’s side, David Bondar (Richmond Hill, Ontario) rounded out the top 10 in the competition with 168.78 points. The Canadian junior champion notably eclipsed a personal best in the short program, earning 70.84 points.
In the women’s competition, Ksenia Krouzkevich (Oakville, Ontario) placed 22nd (131.00 points) at her first-ever Junior Grand Prix appearance.

“I think it could have gone a little better, but it was my first time at a Junior Grand Prix,” said Ksenia Krouzkevich. “I wanted to skate as well as I could, and I worked hard in training to do so. I’m happy to have had this wonderful experience.”
