OTTAWA, ON (March 18, 2025) – Canada’s figure skating elite are set to compete at the 2025 ISU World Figure Skating Championships, taking place in Boston, USA, from March 25-30, 2025, where athletes will be looking to qualify precious entries for the 2026 Olympic Winter Games. Headlining the fourteen member Canadian delegation will be 2024 world medalists Deanna Stellato-Dudek, Maxime Deschamps, Piper Gilles and Paul Poirier.
Reigning world champions in the pairs event, Stellato-Dudek and Deschamps will look to reclaim their title after securing wins at the ISU Grand Prix’s Skate Canada International and Finlandia Trophy earlier this season. The pair, who recently claimed their third consecutive national title and a silver medal at the 2025 ISU Four Continents Championships, will be among the top contenders.
They will be joined by Lia Pereira and Trennt Michaud, who took home the bronze at the 2025 ISU Four Continents Championships and at the ISU Grand Prix Cup of China. National bronze medalists Kelly Ann Laurin and Loucas Éthier will be competing in the event for the second time and will look to improve on their 15th place finish last year.
In the ice dance competition, all eyes will be on Piper Gilles and Paul Poirier, who recently secured their second consecutive ISU Four Continents Championships title. The duo, who placed second at the 2024 ISU World Championships in Montreal, have their sights set on the podium.
Also competing in ice dance will be national silver medalists Marjorie Lajoie and Zachary Lagha, fresh off a third place at the ISU Four Continents Championships. Throughout the season, the duo racked up silver medals at the ISU Grand Prix’s Cup of China and Skate Canada International and finished fourth at the ISU Grand Prix Final. National bronze medalists Alicia Fabbri and Paul Ayer will make their World Championships debut as seniors after scoring a bronze medal at the Denis Ten Memorial Challenge.
National champions Madeline Schizas and Roman Sadovsky will be the sole Canadian entries in their respective categories after both earning strong results this season. Schizas’ fifth place finish at Skate Canada International and Sadovsky’s bronze medal win at the Tallinn Trophy are amongst their season-best results.
