Sport Information Resource Centre (SIRC) Announces New CEO, Kim Gurtler

Ottawa, ON – May 1, 2025 – The Board of the Sport Information Resource Centre (SIRC) is excited to announce that Kim Gurtler will be appointed as the new Chief Executive Officer (CEO), effective May 26, 2025. Kim will succeed Debra Gassewitz, who is retiring after 28 years of dedicated service to the organization.

Having been with SIRC for over six years, Kim brings extensive experience and a deep understanding of the Canadian sport system. A seasoned sport leader, Kim has successfully collaborated with sport organizations, research bodies, and government partners, making her ideally suited to lead SIRC into its next phase of growth and innovation. Her expertise in sport, research, and inclusion, along with her bilingualism and forward-facing approach, will continue to strengthen SIRC’s position as a leading resource for the Canadian sport community.

“Kim is an outstanding leader with a strong vision for the future of Canadian sport,” said Jake Rondot, Board Chair of SIRC. “Her experience, passion, and commitment to sport, research, and inclusion make her the ideal candidate to lead SIRC into the future. On behalf of the Board of Directors, I am confident that Kim will continue to elevate SIRC’s impact, drive innovation, and further our mission to support the growth and development of sport in Canada”

Kim’s appointment comes at an exciting time as SIRC looks to build on its success and continue providing valuable knowledge and resources to sport organizations and stakeholders across the country.

“I am deeply honored to take on this new role and continue to strengthen incredible work already being done at SIRC,” said Kim Gurtler. “By supporting our sport partners and working collaboratively with leaders across the sport system, we will ensure SIRC remains at the forefront of advancing research, innovation, and inclusion in Canadian sport.”

Kim will officially begin her tenure as CEO on May 26, 2025.
