SDRCC Chief Executive Officer to Step Down

Montréal (Québec) – Marie-Claude Asselin, Chief Executive Officer of the Sport Dispute Resolution Centre of Canada, has informed the Board that she will be stepping down from her role in the coming months.

Ms. Asselin has been the CEO for over 18 years, and her commitment to the sporting community has been steadfast throughout that time. “It has been an honour to serve in this role for most of my career, I am very proud of what we have accomplished in giving a voice to those in the sport system who deserve to be heard.” said Asselin. I am confident that I will leave behind a very competent team of staff, mediators and arbitrators to carry the flag. I also want to thank all those who served on the Board of Directors for their unwavering support through my entire tenure.”

“The impact of Marie-Claude’s work over the last 18 years in strengthening dispute resolution processes and ensuring fairness and accountability within the Canadian sport system, will endure. She has given immeasurable time and energy in the pursuit of excellence for the SDRCC, and her devotion is unparalleled,” stated Brad Kielmann, Chair of the SDRCC Board of Directors. “We are grateful for Marie-Claude’s tireless efforts on behalf of the SDRCC for almost two decades, and on behalf of the Board, express our heartfelt thanks and appreciation for her work and dedication.”

The search for a new CEO will begin imminently. Ms. Asselin will remain in her role for the next few months in order to ensure a smooth transition.

The mission of the SDRCC is to provide the sport community with a national alternative dispute resolution service and strengthen the culture of fairness in Canadian sport by resolving disputes quickly and efficiently and to provide expertise and assistance regarding alternative dispute resolution.
