Rowan Kerr and Philippe Wadsworth: Golden Once More

Montréal, July 4, 2025 – Gold medallists the night before, Rowan Kerr (Forest City) and Philippe Wadsworth (KGTC Diving) once again earned themselves gold today, Friday, at the Junior Development National Championships in Winnipeg, Manitoba.

Having won the Group C – 3m springboard the day before, Kerr was victorious once again today – but this time on the 1m springboard.

However, winning the gold today didn’t exactly go as planned for Kerr. His first dive on the springboard only earned him 30.60 – putting him provisionally in fifth place. The Ontarian was able to turn things around after a brief discussion with his coach, and Kerr concluded the competition with a total of 375.70 – and most importantly, the gold medal.

“At the very beginning it was tough, but my coach talked me through it so I could refocus on my dives, and that made all the difference. I’m particularly proud of my medal today, I was feeling good in the qualifiers and was able to bounce back in the final. I want to win more medals!” said Rowan Kerr.

Eddie Haluschak (TDA) took second place in the same category with 352.50 points, and Mano Charron (Envol) completed the podium (341.55 points).

Philippe Wadsworth was also golden today, with a win in the 3m springboard final in his category with a final score of 362 points, after having also been crowned Group D platform champion Thursday.

After Wadsworth grabbed gold, there was a fierce battle for the remaining spots on the podium. Hawksley Burnett (Regina), finished just 1.85 points behind the gold medal, and Lucas Harris (TDA, 320.75 points) ended up with bronze in third.

In the Group D Women’s 3m springboard final, Keixin Chloé Ding (CAMO) was also on target for a second medal in as many days in Manitoba’s capital city.

The Quebecer was a bronze medallist in the 1m event the previous day, and had consistent dives throughout the final on Friday. But she saved her two best dives for last, and claimed the gold medal with a score of 349.85 points.

“It went really well – I think all my dives went well, especially my carp flips during the final round. I’m really proud of myself. I didn’t expect to win two medals this weekend, since my opponents are so strong,” commented Keixin Chloé Ding.

Adele Taylor (EKDC) dove to second place on the podium behind Ding, with 333.65 points, and a mere 15 hundredths of a point ahead of Lexie Cotton-Gagnon (ARO), who finished third. Taylor won gold the previous day in the 1m competition.

In the Group C platform, Sara-Jade Tessier (CAMO) took gold with an impressive score of 429.20; Maia Jane (iDive, 388.75 points) and Charlee Ramirez (Windsor, 376.90 points) rounded out the podium, finishing second and third respectively.

More diving action is to come this weekend, with no less than three finals set to take place on Saturday, in addition to the handstand dive event.
