‘Return to Football’ guide available June 18

Ottawa, ON – The Football Canada ‘Return to Football’ Task Force is scheduled to release the national return to competition guide Thursday, June 18. The guide is part of a month-long effort led by twelve representatives from across the national amateur football community. The document will provide a comprehensive guide to provincial organizations and associations on how to return to activity in alignment with health ministry guidelines within their respective provinces.

“Our sport possesses unique challenges other sports do not in terms of number of competitors, coaches, support staff, officials and equipment,” Football Canada president and Task Force chair Jim Mullin said.

“Our entire task force and staff have been outstanding by ensuring every detail regarding health and safety of all of our participants and their families is paramount. We want our participants who love the game to remain engaged in the game, regardless of circumstance.” he said.

The document will be able to be referenced by members and stakeholders at FootballCanada.ca after June 18th.  There will be further updates and additions to the guide in the following weeks.

EASE OF NATIONAL RESTRICTIONS: On March 12th, Football Canada issued a statement which halted activities including play, practice, training and face-to-face meetings on a national basis. Effective immediately, the assessment for activation of play will be the responsibility of provincial football organizations guided by standards issued by provincial health ministries.

Any change in playing or activity status will be conducted in consultation with the national ‘Return to Football’ Task Force until the guide is released on June 18th.
