Recap: Canada takes home four NORCECA medals

Canada won four medals this past weekend at the eighth stop on the NORCECA Beach Tour in El Salvador (Nov. 8-10).

The Canadian team of Arran Chambers and Jake MacNeil won gold, defeating the U.S. duo of Diego Perez and Ryan Ierna 2-0 (21-13, 21-13).

On the way to their second consecutive NORCECA Tour final, MacNeil and Chambers won their pool and beat fellow Canadians Luke de Greeff and Martin Licht 2-0 (21-10, 21-18) in the semifinals.

Then the bronze medal went to de Greeff and Licht, who made a comeback to win 2-1 (16-21, 22-20, 15-12) over Nicaragua’s Rubén Mora and Dany López. This was de Greeff and Licht’s second medal on the tour, having won a bronze last week in Bonaire.

On the women’s side, Jade Race and Devanne Sours of the United States took gold after Canada’s Dana Roskic and Anna Licht withdraw due to injury during the final match at the Flor Blanca Beach Sports Stadium.

Canadian teammates Amy Ozee and Kaylee Glagau won the bronze medal with a quick 2-0 (21-9, 21-6) victory over Nicaragua’s Socorro López and Valeska Hernández. This was their third medal this year, having won gold in Puerto Cortés and silver in the Dominican Republic.
