Racquetball Canada Announces National Teams

WINNIPEG, November 17, 2021 – Racquetball Canada is pleased to announce the selection of the Elite, Development and Junior National Teams for the 2021-2022 season. Athletes were selected based on results from the National Open Championships and the Junior National Championships held earlier this fall.

This year’s teams consist of several veteran athletes with considerable experience at the international level, some who also have success on the pro-tour. Added into the mix are athletes who have proven themselves in the junior ranks and at the national level.

“After a lengthy break from competitive racquetball I am so pleased to be able to announce Racquetball Canada’s National Teams for the 2021-22 season,” said Jen Saunders, Racquetball Canada’s High Performance Director. “There were some great battles at Nationals and Junior Nationals as we returned to the courts. Our team has some veteran players with a proven ability to medal internationally and lead us into this new phase of racquetball. We also have an amazing list of up-and-coming talent. I look forward to watching everyone’s progression as we are able to compete and train together again.”

Teams representing Canada in international competition will be selected from the national teams. With both the World Championships and the Junior World Championships coming up in November and December, athletes will have an opportunity to compete early at a major event. Based on results from the World Championships combined with National Team Selection points, Racquetball Canada will be nominating athletes for Sport Canada Athlete Assistance Program.
