Powerlifting Athlete Suspended for the Presence of Amfetamine

Ottawa – September 23, 2025 – The Canadian Centre for Ethics in Sport (CCES) announced today that Justin Flores, a powerlifting athlete, received a two-year sanction for an anti-doping rule violation. The athlete’s urine sample, collected in competition on March 29, 2025, revealed the presence of amfetamine, a prohibited stimulant.

The athlete failed to dispute the anti-doping rule violation within the timelines specified in the Canadian Anti-Doping Program (CADP), therefore the violation and the sanction were confirmed by way of a deemed waiver. A two-year sanction was imposed, which ends on June 11, 2027.

During the sanction period, the athlete is ineligible to participate in any capacity with any sport signatory to the CADP or the World Anti-Doping Code, including coaching, training with teammates, or any other individuals subject to these rules.

In compliance with rule 8.4 of the CADP, the CCES’s file outcome summary can be found in the Canadian Anti-Doping Registry.
