Podcast series “Stories from the North” with Wren Acorn

“Stories from the North” is an inspiring project spearheaded by Wren Acorn, former Team Canada Short Track Speed Skater. This project is dedicated to sharing the compelling narratives of athletes from the Northwest Territories, highlighting their relentless hard work, dedication, and the unique challenges they overcome in their pursuit of excellence.

“I am constantly inspired by the incredible stories of our Northern Athletes. Their unwavering passion for their sport are truly remarkable. Hearing about their journeys, the challenges they have overcome, and the triumphs they have achieved fills me with a sense of awe and admiration. These role models serve as shining examples of what can be accomplished through hard work and determination.” said Wren.

Their stories will have the power to ignite a fire within, motivate to pursue a dream and reach for the stars. We are eager to share these inspiring tales, as we believe they have the potential to spark a lifelong love for sports and a drive to excel. By sharing these stories, we hope to help young athletes find their own inspiration and realise that anything is possible with dedication and a belief in oneself.

Starting November 5th, 2024, we are excited to launch a weekly podcast series every Tuesday, featuring inspiring athletes from the North. Each episode will delve into their unique journeys, challenges, and triumphs, providing listeners with valuable insights into the world of sports. In addition to the podcast, we will share highlights and key takeaways from these conversations on our social media platforms, alongside short profiles that allow our audience to get to know these remarkable athletes on a more personal level. Join us as we celebrate their stories and foster a deeper connection with the vibrant athletic community in the North!

The project’s name is a tribute to the rich indigenous culture of the region, where storytelling holds a significant place. It also reflects Acorn’s inspiration drawn from the stories of others. Through this project, Acorn aims to bring to light the untold stories of these athletes, fostering a sense of community and inspiring others with their journeys.
