TORONTO (July 25, 2024) – Canadian Sport Institute Ontario (CSIO) would like to congratulate the 315 athletes and their coaches named to Team Canada for the Paris 2024 Olympic Games. CSIO would like to recognize the 140 Ontario athletes, numerous Ontario coaches, and countless Ontario-based support staff representing Canada at the Games. Ontario athletes comprise 44% of the Canadian Team, once again the largest representation of any province or territory!
Among the Canadian athletes competing at the Games, 152 members of the Team have received support from CSIO during their athletic career on the high performance development pathway. CSIO works or has worked with these athletes and their coaches to optimize their performance and enhance their ability to succeed on the international stage. This includes the delivery of best-in-class performance and health solutions in the disciplines of strength and conditioning, nutrition, mental performance, biomechanics and performance analysis, physiology, and therapy, as well as access to best-in-class training facilities.
Congratulations also goes out to the 53 athletes on Team Canada who have been a part of CSIO’s Ontario High Performance Sport Initiative (OHPSI) program. OHPSI is a program designed by CSIO and funded by the Ministry of Sport, to provide sport science and sport medicine services to provincial athletes who are best capable of achieving future international success on senior national teams in targeted winter and summer sports. The OHPSI investment also contributes to funding support for athlete participation in competition and training, coach and technical leadership support and professional development, and enhancing a sports’ daily training environments.
There will be eleven CSIO staff members on the ground in Paris working with Team Canada athletes providing sport science and sport medicine support, as well as part of Team Canada’s mission team for the Olympic Games.
Canadian Sport Institute Ontario’s purpose is Elevating People & Performances in the pursuit of building champions, and through the expertise and support of CSIO staff and practitioners these athletes are ready to shine in Paris.
