June 25, 2024: Canada’s Women’s NextGen Team is currently in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic where the Women’s NORCECA Final Six Tournament is set to get underway, running until June 30.

The NextGen Team has been training at the Richmond Olympic Oval in Richmond, BC since the end of May under the leadership of NextGen Head Coach Carolyn O’Dwyer. The NextGen program is an important part of the Women’s Senior National Team and is viewed as the entry point for anyone aspiring to play for Canada.

“As we now look toward the Olympics in 2028, it is even more crucial that we accelerate the development of targeted athletes by providing them with full-time high-level training at the national training centre, as well as giving them the opportunity for meaningful international competition such as this one,” says women’s head coach, Shannon Winzer.

Canada takes on Mexico in the first round on June 27, 2024 at 5:00 pm, local time. Check out the tournament schedule, to tune into Canada’s progress.
