The media accreditation application process is now open for WXV 1, taking place September 29 through October 12, 2024 in Vancouver.
WXV 1 is an annual international women’s rugby competition featuring the six best teams in the world. Vancouver is hosting the second edition of WXV 1, which was launched in 2023 and designed to accelerate the growth of women’s rugby around the world.
Using a split pool format, each team will play three matches against the countries in the opposite pool. Canada is in Pool B with New Zealand and the United States, and so will play the three Pool A teams: England, Ireland and France. This tournament takes place over three weekends, at two different locations. This will be Canada’s Women’s Rugby Team’s first competition since their historic victory against New Zealand this past May, and their first time playing at home since last July.
Media accreditation applications received will be reviewed and processed as quickly as possible, and preference will be given to applicants employed and associated with sanctioned and established media outlets. Please note, contractors/freelancers applying for accreditation may be requested to provide further proof of assignment from their employer.
Information about accreditation pick-up, mixed zone access, photography zones, and a schedule of community events and other opportunities will be sent to accredited media in late September.
