Junior Pan American Games – Team Canada Recap

Team Canada proudly represented at the Junior Pan American Games in Paraguay with a strong showing of talent, dedication, and true Canadian spirit. This memorable multi-sport Games experience was made possible through the hard work and commitment of our athletes, coaches, and referees.
Special congratulations go out to Maria Ouyahia, who captured a gold medal in the U21 -55kg event, showcasing not only her skill but also the strength of our junior national program.
“This group of athletes represented Canada with pride, professionalism, and heart,” said Karate Canada’s Team Leader, Rodney Hobson. “They supported one another every step of the way, formed a strong bond, and created memories that will last a lifetime.”
We would also like to recognize Karate Canada’s Trevor Walmsley, who served as Tatami Manager Assistant and officiated several finals, bringing experience and professionalism to the mat.
We extend our sincere thanks to the Canadian Olympic Committee for their ongoing leadership and invaluable support in making Major Games competition opportunities possible for our up-and-coming athletes. We also extend our appreciation to Boulevard Travel for managing logistics and ensuring smooth travel arrangements—especially under the added pressure of the Air Canada strike.
Congratulations to the entire team for their dedication and performances. Canada was proudly represented!
