Introducing BodySense — A New E-learning Course!

The Canadian Centre for Ethics in Sport (CCES) is excited to introduce BodySense – a new interactive e-learning course that presents a whole-self approach to athlete well-being. The course includes self-reflection and self-assessment activities as well as tools, resources, and links to webpages for athletes to explore. To support athletes, the course will:

  • educate and enhance awareness and knowledge about how to navigate body image,
  • bring balance to their physical and mental health, and
  • work towards greater respect and compassion for their body both in and outside of sport.

The course is for athletes of all genders and the primary audience is adolescents in the Train to Train and Train to Compete stages of the Long-Term Development in Sport and Physical Activity framework. The True Sport Principles are integrated into the course and are presented as actions that athletes can take to live the values of fairness, excellence, inclusion, and fun.

True Sport Spotlight: Jacqueline Simoneau Gears up for Paris 2024 Olympics

Cheer on True Sport Champion and accomplished artistic swimmer Jacqueline Simoneau as she gears up for her third Olympic Games this summer in Paris! “I chose to be a True Sport Champion because I believe in the power of sport to shape character, foster community, and inspire positive change. True Sport’s commitment to values like fairness, inclusion, and integrity resonates deeply with me, and I want to be a role model who upholds these principles both in and out of competition,” says Jacqueline, a multi-World Series medalist.

“True Sport is a reminder that how we play the game matters just as much as the outcome,” she stresses. Her dedication to the True Sport Principles shines through in her training and competition, demonstrating that success is about winning with integrity, honour, and respect.

Looking back on the Rio 2016 Olympics, Jacqueline remembers a special True Sport moment that captured the spirit of the Olympics and the True Sport Principles. She recalls when runners Nikki Hamblin and Abbey D’Agostino collided and fell. Instead of focusing on their own race, they helped each other up and finished the race together. This act of respect and integrity shows that good sport can make a great difference.
