Organizational Updates:
- Our 2021 Women in Sport Leadership Snapshot identified that despite the barriers COVID-19 placed on women in the workforce, sport leadership roles held by women either held steady versus the previous year or moved slightly up. Gender Equity Initiatives From Our Friends:
- Program Manager for BC Wheelchair Basketball Society (BCWBS), Nadine Barbisan, is leading a monthly drop-in Womens Only Wheelchair (WOW!) program in lower mainland British Columbia this winter. This program focuses on introducing women and girls (aged 15+ years) to the sport of wheelchair basketball in a safe, fun, and welcoming environment. The WOW! Program features team building, skills development, scrimmages, and an opportunity to try something new. The program is offering opportunities for women to participate on January 24th, and each month leading up to a celebration of women and wheelchair basketball on the weekend of April 8-10, 2022. This event is open to all levels of experience. Details in link above.
