Montréal, May 17, 2025 – After winning bronze medals in the 1m and 3m springboard events earlier this week, Daniel Durevska hoped to make it a hat trick at the Pan-American Aquatic Sports Championships in Medellín, Colombia. The diver from Alberta succeeded in her mission, clinching the silver medal in the Group B platform competition on Saturday.
Durevska’s score of 292.60 points earned her her third medal of the week, placing her between Mexico’s Abigail Gonzalez (305.35) and Brazil’s Ludmila Da Silva Lacerda (264.00).
“I’m so happy to have won a third medal this week, and even happier that this one is silver. Last night, one of the coaches told me he was convinced I could win silver. I knew I could do it,” said Durevska.
“I was very, very consistent all week. If one of my dives didn’t go well, I just shrugged it off and got back on track quickly.”
For Durevska, who is still new to international competition, her three podium finishes in as many events are a huge confidence boost.
“My goal was to win three medals this week, and I succeeded. I know I have what it takes to reach the podium, my confidence is growing, and I know I can do even better. In June, I’ll be taking part in the qualifiers for the Canada Games, and my goal is to win,” she confided.
In the men’s open platform contest, Luc Goertzen obtained Canada’s best result, with fourth place, just ahead of Kash Tarasoff, who placed fifth. Samuel Talbot finished ninth.
In the boys’ Group B 3m springboard event, Chase Shaw ended his day at the foot of the podium, with 351.55 points. Mexico’s Ian Caleb Nava Gutierrez, Alexis Aguero Sanchez, and Mateo Nolasco dominated the podium.
