June 3, 2025 (Gatineau) – The Canada Cup of Diving presented by Speedo, a World Aquatics-sanctioned event, kicks off Thursday morning at the Gatineau Sports Centre. Athletes from 10 different nations have gathered in the region to compete for medals in one of the nine finals scheduled to take place.
The City of Gatineau has made this world-class competition free to attend, offering the community a unique opportunity to witness elite diving performances live. Tickets can still be reserved at www.diving.ca/canadacup.
The event promises to be a spectacular showcase. The Canadian team will feature four Olympic divers: Nathan Zsombor-Murray (Paris 2024, Tokyo 2021), Rylan Wiens (Paris 2024, Tokyo 2021), Margo Erlam (Paris 2024), and Cédric Fofana (Tokyo 2021). Wiens and Zsombor-Murray notably captured a bronze medal in the 10m platform event at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games.
The Canada Cup in Gatineau marks their much-anticipated return to international competition following a well-deserved break after the Olympics.
For young divers in the region, this is a rare opportunity to see their idols in action and to be inspired to dream big.
Other Canadian athletes competing include rising star Ella Lindsay from the Ottawa Nepean club and Sonya Palkhivala (Pointe-Claire), 2025 World Cup silver medalist in women’s 3m synchronized diving.
“We are thrilled to be back in Gatineau for an international diving event — our first visit since hosting the FINA Diving Grand Prix in 2017,” said Penny Joyce, Chief Executive Officer of Diving Plongeon Canada. “The Gatineau Diving Club is an outstanding partner in delivering this event, and their commitment truly makes a difference. One of the reasons we love returning to Gatineau is the remarkable volunteer community, which consistently goes above and beyond to create a warm and world-class experience.”
For Canadian divers, the Canada Cup is a rare opportunity to compete internationally on home soil, in front of family and friends.
This event is made possible thanks to the support of valued partners: the Government of Canada, the Government of Quebec, the City of Gatineau, Tourisme Outaouais, Speedo, the Gatineau Diving Club, and Plongeon Québec.
