Gabriela Dabrowski and Erin Routliffe claim their second US Open doubles crown

[MONTREAL, QC] September 5, 2025 – On Friday, Gabriela Dabrowski, who made history as the first Canadian woman to take home a Grand Slam women’s doubles title, repeated the feat at Flushing Meadows with her partner Erin Routliffe. Seeded third, the team secured their second US Open crown with a two-set win over the top-seeded Kateřina Siniaková of Czechia and Taylor Townsend of the United States in the final (6-4, 6-4).

En route to the title, Dabrowski and Routliffe had to overcome a one-set deficit in the second round and
the quarterfinals but found their rhythm to outplay the reigning Roland-Garros and Olympic champions
Jasmine Paolini and Sara Errani of Italy (6-4, 6-3) in the semifinals.

Friday’s match was the third showdown between the two teams. Siniaková and Townsend took the top
honours at Wimbledon 2024, but Dabrowski and Routliffe got their revenge a few months later at the
WTA Finals in Riyad (7-5, 6-3). This time around, at one of the tour’s leading events, Dabrowski and
Routliffe also had the upper hand. They quickly racked up a 5-2 lead in the opening set, converting two of
three break points while their opponents were successful at only one of six attempts, and kept the
momentum going in the second with a 3-0 lead. Siniaková and Townsend managed to close the gap, but
Dabrowski and Routliffe raised their game to seal the match.

Siniaková and Townsend were competing in their second Grand Slam final together this season. After
winning the Australian Open and the WTA 1000 in Dubai, they hadn’t played a tournament together since
Wimbledon. Meanwhile, Townsend and Shuai Zhang reached the final of the WTA 1000 in Montreal and
defended their title in Washington (WTA 500).

The 2025 US Open is Dabrowski and Routliffe’s seventh shared title. For Dabrowski, it is her fourth Slam,
adding to her mixed doubles triumphs at Roland-Garros in 2017 and the Australian Open in 2018.

“I’m extremely grateful to be here today alongside Erin as a champion,” Dabrowski said during the trophy
ceremony. “It means so much to me. Thank you for your support. To everyone here and watching at
home, we love you so much. To the organizers, thank you for improving the tournament every year for the players and for your partnership with us. We are very grateful. We hope to continue working together to make this tournament one of the best in the world and to make tennis the best sport in the world. We
already think it is, and none of this would be possible without your support.”

“I want to thank Gaby,” Routliffe added. “We’ve been partners for a long time, and I’m very grateful to you. We won our first Grand Slam here two years ago, and now we’ve repeated that achievement. It’s so exciting, and I’m very, very happy to be able to play with you. There were so many people here today
supporting women’s doubles, and we loved every moment.”
