FIS Para Snowboard World Championships Unfolding in the Stunning Okanagan From March 4th to March 10th, 2025

BIG WHITE, BC  – The world’s best Para snowboarders are heading to Big White Ski Resort for the Welcome to Paradise FIS Para Snowboard World Championships. This premier event will showcase both Snowboardcross (SBX) and Banked Slalom, bringing together elite athletes from around the globe to compete for World Championship titles.

As one of the most anticipated events in adaptive snowboarding, the competition will highlight top-tier talent and fierce rivalries on the slopes of Big White. Athletes will face challenging terrain in both SBX, which features head-to-head racing on a dynamic course, and Banked Slalom, a test of speed and technical precision through a winding course of banked turns.

CANADIAN ATHLETES TO WATCH

Canada’s top Para snowboarders will be looking to make their mark at this year’s championships. Among them:

  • Tyler Turner – Three-time Para SBX Crystal Globe winner (2023, 2024, 2025), second-place finisher in the overall standings for SBX and Banked Slalom (2025), Gold medalist in Snowboardcross and Bronze medalist in Banked Slalom at the Beijing 2022 Paralympics.
  • Alex “Bubz” Massie – Returned to the World Cup SBX circuit for the first time since 2022, claiming a silver medal in the LL2 World Cup at Pyhä, Finland. X-Games, Para SBX bronze medalist. 
  • Sandrine Hamel –  World Championships medalist, BSL Silver Pyha 2019,
    SBX Silver Phya 2019, BSL Bronze 2021 and Gold Team SBX 2021. Multiple World Cup podiums, most recently podium finisher at the Lost in Paradise Banked Slalom World Cup 2024
  • Chase Nicklin – Dominated the Europa Cup and Asia Cup circuits this season with four victories, securing a spot on the World Cup tour for the remainder of the season.
  • Philippe Nadreau – A rising star in the Canadian Para snowboard scene, looking to make an impact at his first World Championships.

  • Tuesday, March 4, 2025: Banked Slalom Official Training / Opening Ceremonies
  • Wednesday, March 5, 2025: Banked Slalom Qualification
  • Thursday, March 6, 2025: Banked Slalom Finals
  • Friday, March 7, 2025: Rest Day
  • Saturday, March 8, 2025: Snowboardcross Official Training
  • Sunday, March 9, 2025: Snowboardcross Qualification and Finals
  • Monday, March 10, 2025: Snowboardcross Team Event
