Ellie Black Captivates Jakarta with a Strong Balance Beam Final Performance

Ottawa, ON (October 27, 2025) – Canadian veteran Ellie Black once again showcased her talent and consistency on the international stage, delivering a remarkable performance in the balance beam final at the 2025 Artistic Gymnastics World Championships, which took place in Jakarta, Indonesia, from October 19–25. 

A Remarkable Ninth World Championships Appearance 

This year marks Ellie Black’s ninth appearance at the World Championships — an incredible accomplishment that speaks to her longevity, dedication, and unwavering commitment to Canadian gymnastics. A true role model for the next generation, Black continues to raise the bar for the sport in Canada and inspire young gymnasts to push their limits. 

In the balance beam final held on Saturday, October 25, Black finished 5th with a score of 13.600, reaffirming her place among the world’s best. Her routine — a blend of grace, precision, and confidence — impressed the judges and captivated the audience in Jakarta. 

With yet another outstanding performance, Ellie Black continues a career of excellence that has spanned more than a decade. Her impressive international résumé, combined with her leadership and mentorship within the national team, cements her status as one of Canada’s greatest ambassadors in artistic gymnastics. 

The Fair Play Award: A Symbol of Respect and Inspiration 

During the World Championships, Ellie Black also had the honor of receiving the Fair Play Award in person in Jakarta, which she had won at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games. This symbolic presentation highlights her integrity, respect, and leadership—qualities that make her a true ambassador for Canadian sport.
