April 25, 2025 – Ontario’s Ella Lindsay kicked off the week strong in Dresden, Germany. She claimed the bronze medal in the Girls A platform event on Thursday, finishing just 6 points shy of first place.
The judges awarded her a total score of 374.85, earning her a spot on the third step of the podium. Germany’s Katharina Golbs took gold with 380.35 points, followed by Ukraine’s Diana Shevchenko with 378.95.
Lindsay, who trains with the Nepean Ottawa Diving Club, was proud of this promising start to the week.
“It feels amazing to start off the week with a good performance and a podium finish. What I’m most proud of is my last dive in the final, because it was the highest-scoring dive of the day. Despite waiting on the platform for a while, I finished my event off strong,” said Lindsay.
This medal is special for the Canadian diver, as the competition in Dresden is her first international event in the A category. “My goal was to qualify for the finals. Seeing as the competition here is strong as well, I wanted to perform my best and make myself proud,” she said.
Ella will now compete in the Girls A 3m event. “For my next event, I hope to keep solid scores and showcase my best work in practice on the competitive stage.”
Also in action on Thursday, Daniela Durevska (Dive Calgary) placed 4th in the Girls B 1m event. The athlete from the Canadian Diving Institute in Calgary finished the final with 303.50 points.
On the men’s side, Sam McCaffrey (Pointe-Claire) placed 8th in the Boys A 3m event with a score of 467.05. Blessing Roche (Pointe-Claire), who trains at the Canadian Diving Institute in Montreal, finished 19th.
The competition continues through Sunday in Dresden.
