Ding, Wadsworth and Tessier add a Gold Medal to Their Tally

Winnipeg, July 5th, 2025 – Kexin Chloé Ding (CAMO), Philippe Wadsworth (KGTC Diving) and Sara-Jade Tessier (CAMO) continued their impressive run on Saturday at the Junior Development National Championships in Winnipeg by each amassing another first-place finish.

Already victorious on the 3m springboard in Group D on Friday, Ding distinguished herself on the platform with a total of 368.55 points.

“I felt a bit stressed early on, but I took deep breaths. It worked out well, and I’m thrilled because I landed my reverse dive in the preliminaries and finals!” enthused the Quebecer.

Alberta diver Adele Taylor (EKDC) finished second with 367.30 points, while Lexie Cotton-Gagnon (ARO) rounded out the podium with 347.65 points.

“I’m delighted with my performance! I enjoyed myself and that’s what matters most,” stated Cotton-Gagnon.

Crowned champion on the platform in group D on Thursday and the 3m springboard in his category on Friday, Wadsworth completed his hat trick by capturing gold on the 1m springboard in group D with 352.00 points.

“I think I won because I did my best and applied my coach’s advice as best I could,” said the British-Colombian diver, before adding he was very pleased with his performance.

After making a statement on his first dive, Wadsworth kept up the pace throughout the final and came home with three gold medals.

Hawksley Burnett (Regina) took second place with 349.45 points, while Rykker Powell(KGTC Diving) finished third with 316.85 points.

In the Group C women’s 3m springboard final, Tessier notched her second gold medal in as many days in the Manitoba capital.

The Quebec native saved her two best dives for last and claimed gold with a total score of 419.85 points.

Yolande Yiyao Xie (IDIVE) climbed onto the second step of the podium with 412.75 points. Her teammate Maia Jane (399.15 points) also finished in second place since Xie is not a Canadian diver. Nixon Laing (White Rock) takes third place with 387.55 points.

Two finals will be held on Sunday, in addition to the team event.
