[TORONTO, ON] August 29, 2025 – The 2025 Fischer Outdoor Junior Nationals came to a close this week, with champions crowned in the U14 division at the Carrefour Multisports in Laval, Quebec. The U12 event wrapped up at the same venue last week.
After earning a silver medal as part of Canada’s U14 World Junior Tennis Finals team, Milagros Pastuszka added a national title to her list of 2025 achievements. The Ontarian won her round of 16 match in three sets but found another gear from the quarter-final onwards, not dropping more than three games in a set as she was eventually crowned champion, winning the final 6-3, 6-3. Karina Berska of Saskatchewan finished as runner-up after losing just 11 games in the main draw en route to the final.
In the boys’ draw, Deniz Karabulut of Ontario won his first national singles title of the year. The No. 2 seed cruised through the main draw without dropping a set, defeating Nikola Bogojevic 6-3, 6-2 in the championship match. Karabulut nearly hoisted his second national doubles trophy as well, entering as the No. 1 seed alongside Alden Yu of British Columbia. However, the U14 Fischer Indoor Junior Nationals champions were beaten 6-3, 6-1 in the final by No. 2 seeds Matthew Popa of Quebec and Ilya Sherifali of Ontario.
The girls’ doubles final also featured a battle between the top two seeds. No. 1 seeds Elisabeth Djabourian and Camille Michel of Quebec took the opening set, but Dongchen Ding of Ontario and Lynn Ke of Quebec rallied to even the match before taking the decisive super tiebreak. The No. 2 seeds earned their first national title, winning 4-6, 6-3, 10-8.
At the U12 event, Vlad Lupu of Alberta earned a pair of titles. In the boys’ singles, Lupu did not drop a set on his way to the semi-finals, where he won a three-setter in the final four – the only set he dropped in the tournament. Lupu battled No. 2 seed Daniel Marinov of Ontario for the title, defeating him 6-1, 6-4 to secure his first national title. In doubles, Lupu teamed up with Aidan Xue of British Columbia, entering the draw as the No. 1 seeds. The duo faced No. 2 seeds Marinov and Marco Bryan of Ontario, winning the title without dropping a single game in the final.
On the girls’ side, No. 1 seed Callie Raharinosy of Ontario looked for her second national singles title
after winning the Fischer Indoor Junior Nationals earlier this year. However, she was defeated by
Quebec’s Yasmine Souissi, who won the final in straight sets, 6-2, 6-3. Raharinosy did not go home
empty handed as she and Janelle Mao, also of Ontario, hoisted the doubles trophy. The all-Ontarian team did not lose a set throughout the tournament, defeating No. 2 seeds Emma Antonia Dobrean and Urvi Singh of Ontario 6-2, 6-2 in the final.
