Canadian Women’s Softball Team Improves to 2-0 at The World Games 2025

Chengdu, China – The Quick Story:

The Canadian Women’s Softball Team delivered a dominant all-around performance in a 9-0 run-rule victory over Australia, improving to 2-0 in Group B play at The World Games. Power hitting and shutdown pitching were the stories of the day, as Canada launched three home runs and got a combined five-hit shutout from Annabel Teperson and Dawn Bodrug.
 
Key Moments – Game vs. Australia:

Canada came out strong in the first inning, capitalizing on a pair of wild pitches to score twice before Erika Polidori’s sacrifice fly pushed the lead to 3-0. In the fourth, Canada flexed its power with back-to-back solo homeruns from Emma Entzminger and Janet Leung to extend the lead to 5-0. Kianna Jones kept the momentum going with a solo shot of her own in the fifth, then delivered again in the sixth with an RBI double as part of a three-run frame. Zoe Hicks and Grace Messmer added RBIs via a fielder’s choice and a sacrifice fly, helping Canada reach the 9-run mark to secure a run-rule win in six innings.

The win clinched a semi-final berth for Canada, who will look to continue their unbeaten streak in Group B when they face Japan (2-0) August 15 at 10:00am China Standard Time (10:00pm EDT August 14).
