Canadian team named for the World Archery 3D Championships

Terni, IT – Following the 3D Selection Trials in Lac La Biche, AB this past weekend, Archery Canada is pleased to announce the team, approved by the Selection Approval Panel, who will represent Canada at the 2022 World Archery 3D Championships in Terni, Italy in September. A total of 20 athletes will be traveling to shoot in the competition.

The following athletes have been selected:

Women’s Barebow

  • Sabrina Van Der Giessen (AB)

Men’s Barebow

  • William Melnik (ON)
  • Jovica Djukic (SK)
  • Billy Sanderson (BC)

Women’s Compound

  • Monica Higgins (AB)
  • Andrea Wiens (AB)
  • April Willis (MB)

Men’s Compound

  • Joe Sarrazin (BC)
  • Blair St. Amant (SK)
  • Leon Laffin (NS)

Women’s Longbow

  • Miranda Sparkes (BC)

Men’s Longbow

  • Fred Streleoff (BC)
  • Jaize Tostyniuk (AB)
  • Greg (Bud) Dettling (BC)

Women’s Traditional

  • Trudy Dryden (NB)
  • Katie Britton (BC)

Men’s Traditional

  • Marc Britton (BC)
  • Gentian Zoto (ON)
  • Brad Hackewich (MB)

The team is composed of a mix of returning athletes from the 2019 World Archery 3D Championships, as well as athletes who will be representing Canada for the first time on an international stage. 

Official Event Schedule

  • September 4 – Official practice
  • September 5 – 1st qualification round (24 targets)
    • All categories, men & women
  • September 6 – 2nd qualification round (24 targets)
    • All categories, men & women
  • September 7 – Mixed team event (semifinals and finals)
  • September 8 – Individual elimination rounds (quarter finals, semifinals, finals)
  • September 9 – Team event (quarter finals, semifinals, finals)
  • September 10 – Individual semifinals and finals
