Canada’s best track & field athletes will descend on Montreal for the Bell Track & Field Trials June 26-30. Before the first Canadian champions are crowned, the event gets off to a fast start with a media availability with some of the country’s biggest stars.
 
Joining the athletes will be one lucky track & field club who earned an elite athlete meet and greet for winning the Club Challenge. Members of the winning club will be able to ask the athletes questions at the availability.
 
Andre De Grasse, Audrey Leduc, Bianca Borgella, Christopher Morales Williams, Greg Stewart and Charles Philibert-Thiboutot will interact with young members of the winning club on at noon on Wednesday, June 26. Media are invited to attend the event and scrum with the athletes.
 
Andre De Grasse is one of Canada’s most decorated athletes – the owner of six Olympic medals and five World Championships medals, competing in the 100 metres, the 200 metres and the 4×100 metre relay. At this year’s World Athletics Relays, De Grasse and his teammates earned an Olympic quota spot in the relay for Paris 2024.
 
Audrey Leduc has had an outstanding 2024 season, having set new Canadian records in both the 100 metres and 200 metres, and being part of the women’s 4×100 metre relay team that left the 2024 World Athletics Relays having earned a quota spot for Canada in the event at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games.
 
Bianca Borgella made an impact in her first World Para Athletics Championships last year, earning a silver medal in the T13 200 metres and bronze in the T13 100 metres, earning quota spots for Canada in both events at the Paris 2024 Paralympic Games.
 
Christopher Morales Williams has already made an impact in 2024, setting a Canadian record and world-leading time of 44.05 seconds to win the men’s 400-metre event at the Southeastern Conference outdoor championships, in addition to He set a Canadian indoor record and all-time best mark of 44.49 seconds in February.
 
Greg Stewart is the defending Paralympic champion in the men’s F46 shot put. Having retired in 2022, Stewart made a grand comeback at the 2024 World Para Athletics Championships last month, winning silver to book a quota spot for Canada in Paris.
 
Charles Philibert-Thiboutot is the reigning 2023 Pan American Games champion in the men’s 1,500 metres. He achieved the Olympic standard in his event last year.
 
The 2024 Bell Track & Field Trials will take place at Montreal’s Claude-Robillard Sports Complex, July 26 – 30. The event will include national championships for Senior, U20, Para Athletics and Combined Events, serving as the selection trials for the Olympic and Paralympic track and field athletes that will represent Canada at the 2024 Games in Paris, France.
