Canada’s Ski Cross Team Announced for 2025 Junior World Championships

Calgary, Alta. (April 2, 2025) — Alpine Canada announced today the six athletes selected to represent Canada at the FIS Ski Cross Junior World Championships in Isola 2000 (FRA). Isola 2000, a ski resort in the southern French Alps, is where Canada will look to build on its outstanding performance at last season’s Junior Worlds in Idre Fjall (SWE) where Canada claimed four of the possible nine medals including gold in both the men’s and women’s races.

Canada’s 2025 Junior World team is led by three athletes returning from the 2024 Junior World team including Kaleb Barnum (Fernie, BC) who will be defending his World Junior title after winning last year. Nicholas Katrusiak (Whistler, BC), making his fourth Junior World appearance, was second at last season’s Junior Worlds in both the men’s and the team race. Kael Oberlander (Kelowna, BC) will be looking to improve on her 16th place at last year’s Junior World Champs.

“A World Championships is an exciting event, and I am happy for this group of athletes who have earned the opportunity to measure themselves against the world’s best,” said Dave Ellis, Alpine Canada’s High-Performance Director, Ski Cross. “I know the effort on and off the snow that goes into reaching this level of competition and the families, friends and clubs deserve a thank you for their tireless support of these young athletes.”

The 2025 Junior Worlds team is made up of six athletes who qualified for the team through a selection criteria that considers world ranking, world ranking by age, as well as performance in the Nor-Am Series.
