Calgary, AB. (November 25, 2023) — Valérie Grenier (St. Isidore, ON) raced to fifth at today’s FIS Ski
World Cup women’s giant slalom in Killington, Vermont. This is Grenier’s fourth consecutive top seven finish dating back to last season and positions her well ahead of next weekend’s Tremblant World Cup race.
In front of an energetic crowd of over 10,000 on a chilly, windy day under bright sun, Grenier stood seventh after her first run. Grenier delivered a solid second run to move up to fifth, claiming her
seventh career top 5 and best result ever in Killington.
“The snow was great today and I feel good about with a fifth-place,” said Grenier. “I was a little too passive on the first run and then made a couple of mistakes on the second run. I know that I could’ve done more and knew that it probably was not going to be enough for a podium when I crossed the finish but happy with a top five.”
“Coming off the last two races I am so excited to get to Tremblant,” added Grenier. “Training is going well, I’m skiing fast, and the team is in a positive place. The other girls are excited to get there and it’s going to be fun to show them around.”
Britt Richardson (Canmore, AB) in her 12th World Cup start, finished 22nd, tying her career best and also producing her second top 25 in two races this season.
Cassidy Gray (Panorama, BC) finished 35th in the first run, while Sarah Bennett (Stoneham, QC) was 55th, both missed qualifying for the second run. Claire Timmerman (Calgary, AB) made her World Cup debut and didn’t finish the first run.
