Canada’s Alpine Ski Team Races to Best Ever World Ski Championships
Calgary, Alta. (February 21, 2023) — The 2023 FIS Alpine World Ski Championships in Courchevel/ Méribel, France, have been the most successful world championships in Canadian ski racing history. With two gold medals, four podiums and seven athletes leaving with world championships medals, Canada’s
athletes delivered memorable performances from the men, the women and in the team event. These are the first World Championship medals for each of the seven Canadians.
“I’m so proud of this team,” said Therese Brisson, President and CEO of Alpine Canada. “The athletes’ performances were inspiring and the teams hard work, including that of the coaches and staff, is the foundation that built these incredible results. These medals were well earned from years of dedication by the athletes, and the ongoing support of their families and Canada’s ski community.”
“It’s exciting to think of the 500 million people watching the world championships around the world applauding Canada’s team,” added Brisson. “We need to continue working as an organization and as a nation to build on this momentum. I hope all Canadians join us in celebrating these remarkable accomplishments and that they continue to support these amazing athletes.”
