Canada Soccer have announced the list of nominees for the 2020 Canada Soccer Player Awards with voting open to media and coaches from 25 November to 1 December. At the top of the list are the annual nominees for the 2020 Canadian Players of the Year Award presented by Allstate, celebrating the top male and female footballers from the 2020 calendar year.
Media and coaches will vote for the Canadian Players of the Year Award, which was introduced in 1993 to celebrate the achievements at both the international and club level. This year, Canada Soccer staff coaches will select the 2020 Canadian Futsal Player of the Year and vote on the Canadian Youth International Players of the Year award.
Canadian soccer fans, meanwhile, will vote on the annual Allstate Canadian National Teams Good Hands Award, recognising the top save by Canada’s National Team goalkeepers during international play. Voting for the award runs from 19 November until 26 November. Fans who vote for their top save will have the opportunity to be entered to win a #CanadaRed prize package.
Beyond the Player Awards, Canada Soccer will announce the Canada Soccer Nations Champions presented by Toyota on Monday 22 December, a new award that will honour individuals that have made a difference in their community at the grassroots level of the game. Nominations for the Canada Soccer Nations Champions are open from 24 November through 13 December.
The 2020 Canada Soccer Player Awards will be announced over the week of 30 November to 4 December, culminating with the two Canadian Players of the Year announced on Thursday 3 December and Friday 4 December.

Voting will be done by Canadian media and coaches, selecting first choice, second choice, and third choice. The award celebrates Canada Soccer’s top footballers in recognition of their 2020 achievements with both the National Team and their respective club teams.

Canadian Youth International Players of the Year
The Canadian Youth International Players of the Year Award celebrates Canada’s top two youth footballers. For the 2020 award, the list of women’s nominees features U-20 players who participated at the 2020 Concacaf Women’s Under-20 Championship. For the men’s nominees, given that no international competitions took place because of the global Covid-19 pandemic, the Canada Soccer list features Canadian U-23 players.

Le prix de Joueurs canadiens juvéniles internationaux de l’année célèbre les deux meilleurs jeunes footballeurs du Canada. Pour le prix en 2020, la liste des joueuses en nomination présente des joueuses U-20 qui ont participé au Championnat féminin U-20 de la Concacaf 2020. Pour les joueurs en nomination, comme aucune compétition internationale n’a eu lieu en raison de la pandémie de COVID-19, la liste inclut des joueurs U-23 de Canada Soccer.
