Canada Skateboard Announces New President

Canada Skateboard is pleased to announce that Annie Guglia, Canada’s first Olympic skateboarder, has been elected as the new President of Canada Skateboard. Guglia will be taking over from Ben Stoddard who has served as President since 2016.

Ben Stoddard has made a significant impact on Canadian Skateboarding during his tenure as President and beyond. He has been a dedicated leader and his efforts played a key role in the organization’s growth and success. The Board of Directors, staff and everyone in the Canada Skateboard family would like to recognize and thank Ben for his years of service and passion for skateboarding. We wish him the best in all his future endeavors and look forward to what he does next.

Stoddard said, “Serving as the first President of Canada Skateboard has been an incredible honour. Along with our founding board members, we were fortunate enough to bring a “new sport” into the Canadian Sport System and see Skateboard make its debut on the Olympic stage. It was a once-in-a-lifetime experience that I look forward to telling my grandchildren about.

I’m very grateful to pass the torch to Ms. Guglia. I’ve had the privilege of watching her progress as a skateboarder, activist, champion, Olympian, community leader, and overall great human. There is no doubt she will achieve great things as President.

Canada Skateboard is in great hands with Ms. Guglia at the helm. Long live the queen of Canadian skateboarding!”

Annie Guglia is a highly accomplished skateboarder, with a wealth of experience both on and off the board. As a three-time National Champion and the first Canadian to represent the country at the Olympic Games, Guglia brings a unique perspective to the role of President. She is committed to continuing the growth and success of Canada Skateboard, and we are excited to have her on board as our new leader.

Guglia said, “I am honored to have been elected as the next President of Canada Skateboard. It is a great privilege to lead an organization that has been so meaningful to my career, and I am looking forward to working with the board and the members to continue to support, promote and grow skateboarding in Canada.”

The Board of Directors is confident that Guglia will be an excellent leader for Canada Skateboard and we look forward to working with her in the future.
