Canada Selects to play the MLR’s Seattle Seawolves

Thursday February 8, 2024 – The Canada Selects will play the MLR’s Seattle Seawolves this February at Starfire Sports Complex, the home of the two-time MLR champions. This will mark the first time that the Canada Selects have played an MLR team, with the exception of a series of matches against the Ontario Arrows in 2018.

This match will be part of the Seawolves’ pre-season preparation, with kick-off scheduled for 7:00pm PT on Wednesday February 21. The Canada Selects will include national team prospects and emerging university and Pacific Pride players. A squad of 30, which will be announced shortly, will convene in Langford for a training camp prior to heading to Seattle.

“This is a quality competition opportunity and a chance for our coaching staff to watch and work with some up-and-coming Canadian players in a high performance environment,” said Kingsley Jones, Head Coach of Canada’s Men’s Rugby Team. “Having more frequent opportunities such as this to come together for matches against competition like the Seawolves is important for the continued growth and development of our men’s program. This is something that we want to build on, and we’re excited to get to work with this group.”

This new opportunity with the Seattle Seawolves will also see the Pacific Pride Academy take to the pitch at Starfire Sports Complex. Playing with expanded rosters, the Pacific Pride and the Seawolves will take part in a practice game on Friday February 16 at 7:00pm PT.

Tickets are available for purchase here. A buy one, get one free ticket offer is available for Canadian fans here. While a livestream will not be available, fans are encouraged to follow the Seattle Seawolves on social media (@seawolvesrugby) for updates and more information.
