Canada Secures Additional Quota Spot for Women’s 10m Diving Event at the Paris 2024 Olympics

We are thrilled to announce that Canada has been allocated a second quota spot in the Women’s 10m individual event for the 2024 Summer Olympic Games in Paris.

Ottawa-born Kate Miller will therefore be the country’s second representative in this event. Miller earned this spot by finishing second at the Canadian Diving Trials held in Windsor, Ontario, at the beginning of May.

“I am just so excited. Stressed, but mostly excited. It’s going to be my first Olympics, and I can’t wait to see what it’s like,” said Kate Miller, expressing her enthusiasm for the opportunity.

“When I received the call to break the news to me, I couldn’t believe it,” added Miller. The call came from Mitch Geller, Chief Technical Officer of Diving Canada, while she was training with her teammates at the pool.

“It was a memorable moment. We were all so happy. We were screaming. Honestly, I didn’t know how to react. I will certainly remember this moment,” said Miller, reflecting on the emotional announcement.

At just 19 years old, Kate Miller is set to make her Olympic debut. She had already qualified for the Paris Olympic Games in the Women’s 10m synchronized diving event, where she will compete alongside her partner, Caeli McKay. McKay herself secured her spot in the individual event by winning the Women’s 10m event at the Canadian Diving Trials.

“We are exactly 3 weeks away from the kickoff of the Olympic Games in Paris. We are working hard at the pool to be ready. I am very lucky to train with Caeli, who has already participated in the Olympic Games in Tokyo 2021. I can learn from her experience,” mentioned Miller, highlighting the valuable partnership with McKay.

Diving Plongeon Canada will also be represented in Paris by Nathan Zsombor-Murray (10m, 10m synchro), Rylan Wiens (10m, 10m synchro) and Margo Erlam (3m).
