Canada Explodes Offensively to Defeat Australia at 2025 WBSC Men’s Softball World Cup

Prince Albert, Sask. – The Quick Story: 

Canada’s bats came alive in a 14–2 four-inning victory over Australia in their second game of the Placement Round at the WBSC Men’s Softball World Cup. Mathieu Roy accounts for three of the four home runs in the game, tallying a total of eight RBIs. While Ty Sebastian completed the game in the circle, striking out nine batters.  

Key Moment: 

Canada broke the game open with a massive seven-run second inning. After back-to-back singles and a stolen base, Roy crushed a three-run shot to dead center to give Canada a 5–0 lead. Moments later, Blake Hunter followed with a towering three-run homer of his own to cap off the explosive inning, putting Canada ahead 9–1. 

Notes: 

  • Mathieu Roy was unstoppable, going 3-for-4 with 3 home runs and 8 RBIs. 
  • Blake Hunter added a three-run home run and an RBI single, finishing with 5 RBIs. 
  • Ty Sebastian went 2-for-3 with 2 runs scored. 
  • Bradley Ezekiel reached base three times with a walk and two singles. 
  • Nick White went 2-for-3, scoring 2 runs. 

In the Circle: 

  • Ty Sebastian took the start for Canada in the circle allowing 2 runs on 5 hits and striking out 9. 

Box Score: Canada 14 vs. Australia 2 

With the win, Canada ends the Placement Round 2-1 and finishes fifth in the tournament on the Team Quality Balance tiebreaker.
