The outstanding success of Canada’s national artistic swimming teams stem from a solid membership base and the quality programming offered by Canada Artistic Swimming (CAS), the governing body of the sport in Canada.
CAS is looking for interested, qualified candidates to join its Board and help lead the organization.

The Board meets approximately once a month, and as required. The meetings are held by videoconference. At its annual meeting, on September 16th 2023, CAS voting members will elect up to 4 Directors at-large + 1 athlete director, each to serve a 3-year term.
NOMINATIONS
Persons interested in joining the CAS Board should complete the nomination/application form and attach a brief curriculum vitae. Moreover, they must provide a personal statement explaining their motivation in joining CAS Board of directors, their personal objectives and the contribution they are willing to bring to the organization should they be elected.
Following consultation with the Board and other stakeholders, the Nominating Committee especially welcomes nominations from those who can strengthen CAS’s representation in the following areas of skills and expertise:
A) General Core Competencies & Experience of Board Members
- Board of Directors Experience- Experience in serving on a public sector, private sector or not-for-profit board. Experience and knowledge of good governance policies
- Leadership Experience – Experience serving as a Committee Chair, or in other positions of leadership.
- Communication Skills – The ability to convey and hear information to and from others effectively.
- Conflict Management – Experience in conflict management, enhancing learning and group outcomes in an organizational setting.
- Strategic Planning and Focus – Experience with planning, evaluation, and implementation of a strategic plan. This includes a demonstrated ability to focus on longer term goals and strategic outcomes which are separate from day-to-day management and operational experience.
B) Specialized Competencies & Experience of Board Members
- Finance and Accounting – Experience and knowledge of financial operational management including: financial reporting, cash flow, investments, capital allocation, market trends, budgeting and audit processes.
- Legal and Regulatory – Experience and knowledge of legal issues, government relations, contract negotiations, and other regulatory matters related to National Sport Organizations (NSO) operations.
- Risk Assessment- Experience in the process of identifying principal corporate risks to ensure that management has implemented the appropriate systems to manage risk.
- Human Resources – Understanding of human resource considerations and issues for executive recruitment, compensation structures and performance review among public sector, private sector or not-for-profit organizations.
- Marketing / Communication – Experience in the action or business of promoting and selling products, services and programs, branding strategies, market research and/or advertising, and media affairs
- Sponsorship – attracting sponsors & funding opportunities
- Technology – Experience or knowledge in the area of information technology, trends and services.

PROCESS
The Nominating Committee will screen all nominations received to ensure that they meet the minimum qualifications required at law for a director (an individual, at least 18 years of age, with capacity, and not bankrupt).
Nominations will then be reviewed and evaluated against the skills, expertise, and diversity as provided for above. The Nominating Committee will interview selected candidates and finally make a list of recommended candidates to provide to the Members in advance of the Annual Meeting.
