The Black Canadian Coaches Association (BCCA) is pleased to announce the launch of the next intake for the Black Female Coach Mentorship Program (BFCMP). In partnership with the Coaching Association of Canada (CAC), the mentorship program seeks to create equitable opportunities for Black female coaches in Canada. A national call for Mentee and Mentor applications is now open to women who identify as Black, Biracial, or Indigenous sport coaches. Applicants are invited to apply before the April 18th application deadline.
The Black Female Coach Mentorship Program focuses on three main objectives:
- Providing Black female mentorship;
- Advancing coach professionalization amongst both program mentors and mentees; and
- Providing a sustainable model of formalized mentorship that increases accessibility, support, and leadership development for Black female coaches in sport.
Program Time Commitment: April 2021 – March 2022
Mentor – Eligibility & Commitment
- Identifies as a Black, Biracial/Afro-mixed, or Indigenous Woman
- Currently obtain or pursuing Registered Coach license or Chartered
Professional Coach designation - Must complete NCCP Mentorship prior to or at the beginning of the program
- Regular communication and monthly meetings with assigned mentee
- Monthly mentor meetings – starting on April 26th
Mentee – Eligibility & Commitment
- Identifies as a Black, Biracial/Afro-mixed, or Indigenous Woman
- Aspiring or current sport coach
- Regular communication and monthly meetings with assigned mentor
- Attend Mentee Training at beginning of the program
- Attend professional development sessions

Application Deadline: All applications must be submitted by April 18, 2021. Mentor applicants will be notified by April 23, 2021. Mentee applicants will be notified by May 7, 2021.
