Bringing research to life with SIRC at the Sport for Life Summit!

Canada’s Sport Information Resource Centre (SIRC) is partnering with Sport for Life to host two dynamic sessions at the upcoming Sport for Life Summit taking place January 21-23, 2025, at the Hilton Lac-Leamy Hotel in Gatineau, Quebec.

SIRC and Sport for Life are leveraging their unique networks to bring together sport leaders and scholars from across Canada to enhance quality sport and physical activity for all Canadians.

“Sport for Life is thrilled to partner with SIRC on exciting new elements of the 2025 Sport for Life Summit,” says Tyler Laing, Sport for Life’s Senior Manager of Quality Sport Development. “SIRC is the national leader in sharing knowledge, generating ideas and innovations, and advancing best practices, which are all objectives of the Summit. We look forward to the positive impact this collaboration will have on the sport and physical activity ecosystem.”

New this year, SIRC will lead a Speed Networking Session to help kick off the Summit on Tuesday, January 21st. This fast-paced event is designed for quick, one-on-one conversations between researchers and sport leaders, creating opportunities for participants to expand their professional network and explore future collaborations.

SIRC will also host a research poster session during the social hour on January 21st, following a keynote address by former NFL athlete and McGill medical school graduate, Dr. Laurent Duvernay-Tardif. During the social hour, researchers will present their work to the sport community in an informal setting with snacks and a cash bar.

“The Sport for Life Summit is a great opportunity for researchers to connect with sport practitioners from across the country,” says Kim Gurtler, Vice President of Operations at SIRC. “The Summit has a solid track record of sharing key learnings and quality program updates that have an impact on the field of play.”

This is an exciting opportunity to showcase the work of Canadian researchers funded through the Sport Participation Research Initiative, a joint initiative of the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council and Sport Canada.
