Bowls Canada Seeking Host Clubs For 2025 National Championships

Bowls Canada is excited to announce a call for Expressions of Interest from clubs interested in hosting one of three upcoming 2025 National Championship events. This initial call is an essential step to securing hosts early, helping clubs and Bowls Canada plan to deliver top-level events across Canada. While we recognize there are still outstanding decisions around the final format and specific disciplines, advancing this process now allows clubs and Bowls Canada to plan effectively for these premier events and secure dates on provincial calendars.

Given the ongoing discussions among membership regarding which disciplines should be included and how each event should be structured, we want to be transparent that the format details are still under review. However, we are confident that the time allocations outlined in the application will meet the requirements to run each event successfully. We encourage clubs with the interest and capacity to host to express their commitment now, enabling us to set dates and locations.

Bowls Canada is also open to the possibility of a single club hosting more than one event, provided it has the capacity and resources to do so. Clubs interested in hosting multiple events are encouraged to indicate their interest and ability to manage concurrent or back-to-back championships.

While we are currently focused on securing hosts for these three established events, there is a possibility that additional events may be added in the future. Should that happen, Bowls Canada will issue a separate call for hosts.

The three national events are as follows:

1. Youth Championship

    • Disciplines: Men’s and Women’s singles, combined pairs event
    • Duration: 5 competition days, plus 1 day for practice/opening ceremonies
    • Venue Requirements: 1 green (8 rinks)

    • Expected Attendance: Approximately 80 athletes, plus coaches and spectators
    • Date: between August 11 and 31; exact dates to be set based on host availability

    3. Para Championship

    • Disciplines: Singles event and team event for bowlers with visual impairments and physical disabilities
    • Duration: 5 competition days, plus 1 day for practice/opening ceremonies
