Bowls Canada Boulingrin Hires New Communications and Safe Sport Coordinator

BCB is thrilled to introduce the newest member of the bowls family: Casey Donnelly. Casey will be joining BCB part-time as she finishes up her Bachelor of Commerce degree, and will settle in full-time in May as the Communications and Safe Sport Coordinator. Using her past communications experience at the Bank of Canada and the Government of Canada, Casey will take the lead on BCB’s communications strategy. She also brings a specialization in marketing to the table, which she will use to implement digital marketing and promotion activities to grow the sport of bowls in Canada. After having the opportunity to try lawn bowling last summer, Casey is enthusiastic about applying her skills to help more people learn how great the sport is.

“It’s fun and easy to learn, and not enough people know this side of the sport. My goal is to help people see that bowls is for everyone,” said Donnelly.

In tandem with communications and marketing activities, Casey is committed to branding the sport as diverse by ensuring all gender equity and inclusion guidelines are being met.  She will also coordinate Bowls Canada’s Safe Sport initiatives, including BCB’s national screening program.

“Bowls Canada is very grateful to the support of the Government of Canada to help us make this position available,” said Executive Director Anna Mees. “With Casey’s leadership, I am looking forward to a comprehensive administration of our national Safe Sport resources so that lawn bowls continues to be an inclusive, welcoming and safe activity for all Canadians.”

Casey is fully bilingual so feel free to reach out to her in the language of your choice with any questions you may have. Until the office resumes regular operations, Casey can be reached by email at cdonnelly@bowlscanada.com.
