Tissot UCI Track Cycling World Cup
Canada’s Elite & NextGen athletes won a total
of four medals in three days, finishing the event ranked fifth in the nation standings.
- Kelsey Mitchell & Lauriane Genest won gold in the Team Sprint, while the women’s and men’s Team Pursuit squads both earned bronze medals on the first day of competition.
- Kelsey Mitchell won a second medal in two days, finishing second in the Sprint despite being sick.
UCI Para-cycling Track World Championships
Canadian
athletes won a total of four medals – one gold and three silver –
and set two world records, as well as multiple Canadian records, during
the four days of competition on home soil.
- Day 1 – Kate O’Brien made her para-cycling debut by setting a world record and winning gold in the women’s C4 500 metre Time Trial.
- Day 2 – Tristen Chernove earned a silver medal in the men’s C4 1000 metre Time Trial, while Kate O’Brien set a second world record in the Flying 200 metre competition.
- Day 3 – Tristen Chernove won two more medals, finishing second in the Scratch Race and in the Omnium.
Cyclocross World Championships
Twelve athletes represented Canada at the biggest cyclocross race of the season, with Ruby West finishing 9th in the U23 women’s field, while Maghalie Rochette was 14th in the Elite field, closing the season ranked top-10 in the world!
BMX World Cups 3 & 4
The organizing committee made the last minute decision to cancel world cups 3 & 4 due to high winds. Racing resumes in April in Manchester.
Cycling Canada announced a three-year partnership with AFEX,a leading foreign exchange and risk management specialist.
