Benjamin Tessier Captures Silver on the 10-meter Platform

Montréal, August 19th, 2025 – Benjamin Tessier took home the silver medal on Monday in the 10-meter platform event at the Junior Pan American Games in Asunción, Paraguay.

The Quebec diver tallied 463.40 points, finishing behind Mexico’s Kenny Zamudio (467.75), who won the gold medal. Cuba’s Carlos Ramos came in third with a score of 454.45 points.

“I’m extremely proud of my performance. I successfully landed all six dives, which I believe is a first for me this year, so I consider it a success,” stated Tessier.

The 20-year-old athlete had placed sixth in qualifying before climbing onto the second step of the podium.

“I wasn’t satisfied with my dives in the preliminaries, but I told myself I had to forget about it and move on to preserve my energy. I adopted a positive mindset and it paid off!” exclaimed Tessier.

“I couldn’t really afford to miss a dive if I wanted to secure a spot on the podium, and I nailed every single one! However, I still fell a little short of first place. That makes me even more eager to go back to the drawing board and work on that in training,” added the Quebecer.

Tessier performed his best dive on his penultimate trip to the platform, scoring 88.40 points, which allowed him to consolidate his second place.

“I’m still quite proud of my dives. I gave it my all and did the best I could.”

Meanwhile, Montreal’s Matt Cullen took fourth place with a tally of 438.40 points.

For his part, British Columbia diver Carson Paul finished atop the preliminary standings in the 3-meter springboard competition with 388.05 points.

On the women’s side, Quebec’s Amélie-Laura Jasmin ranked seventh in the 1-meter springboard final with 231.15 points. American Sophia Grace Verzyl earned gold with a total score of 270.40, topping Mexico’s Mia Cueva (267.95) and Lia Cueva (261.45), who grabbed silver and bronze respectively.
