Beach Pro Tour: Canada wins pool at Elite 16

June 07, 2024: Canada’s Melissa Humana-Paredes and Brandie Wilkerson, both of Toronto, went undefeated to win their pool today at the Volleyball World Beach Pro Tour Ostrava Elite16 in Czech Republic.

The consistently strong Canadian team, who have secured a spot to Paris 2024 via rankings, swept local favourites Hermannova / Stochlovam, Stam / Schoon of Netherlands, and the Swiss pair of Vergé-Dépré A. / Mäder to advance at this tournament without dropping a set.

Canada’s only entry in the main draw, Melissa and Brandie move directly to the quarterfinals. Canada’s Bansley/Bukovec did attempt to qualify in Ostrava, but lost a tie-break to Vitoria / Hegeile of Brazil earlier this week.

Canada’s official team announcement for the Summer Olympics will come after the NORCECA Continental Qualifier, where Canada will attempt to qualify additional beach teams for Paris. The qualifier will be held in Tlaxcala , Mexico, June 14 to 24.
