Beach brief: Canada fifth at Pro Tour Finals

Dec. 08, 2023: Canada’s top-ranked women’s pair of Melissa Humana-Paredes and Brandie Wilkerson ended their run at the 2023 Volleyball World Beach Pro Tour Finals in the quarterfinals on Friday in Doha, Qatar.

Today, the Canadians fell to the USA’s Taryn Kloth and Kristen Nuss 0-2 (17-21, 14-21) in the elimination round.

In pool play, Canada beat current World Champions Kelly Cheng and Sara Hughes 2-0, also of the United States, to kick off the event. Canada only suffered one loss in pool play, which was to current world number-one team Duda and Ana Patricia of Brazil.

Canada finishes fifth at this tournament and this team currently sits at fourth in the world rankings. This was Canada’s only entry in this event. The medal matches will be held Saturday, December 9.
